Karlsruhe, July 8, 2014
International energy research has a new platform. The ENERGY, SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY – International Conference and Exhibition, EST 2015, is taking place for the first time from May 20 – 22, 2015, in the “Kongresszentrum” Karlsruhe. The three central topics will be renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy systems and grids. EST 2015 will be an opportunity for researchers and engineers from all over the world to meet and share their latest research findings and developments in energy systems. The two established energy conferences, EnMat and E2C, will form part of the EST 2015. Operating as the EST 2015’s scientific partner, the KIT Energy Center of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is structuring a further part of the conference’s program. Around 800 international participants are expected to attend.
Strong partners behind EST 2015
Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress-GmbH is organizing the event together with six strong partners: DECHEMA – German Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, DGM – German Society for Materials Science, E-MRS – European Materials Research Society, EPS – European Physical Society, EuCheMS – European Association for Chemical and Molecular Science and KIT. Representatives of all partners had agreed to collaborate in EST 2015 at a strategy meeting held at the Karlsruhe city hall at the beginning of May.
“EST 2015 brings together the expertise of leading partners from the energy sector to present and investigate the top topics of energy research. With its international profile, the EST 2015 will also contribute to further promoting Karlsruhe as a top location for scientific conferences in Germany”, says Britta Wirtz, Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress-GmbH’s Managing Director.
Dr. Karl-Friedrich Ziegahn, division head at KIT and head of the KIT Energy Center, explained at the strategy meeting: “The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is one of the leading energy research centres in Europe with an excellent track record in several fields of research. As one focus is energy research, KIT supports the EST 2015 to provide an optimal platform for an inspiring interdisciplinary dialogue between scientists, researchers, industry members, politicians and the other interested stakeholders, who are contributing to a better energy system of the future.”
DECHEMA and DGM are planning to hold the third EnMAT (International Conference on Materials for Energy) during EST 2015. Dr. Florian Ausfelder, head of research promotion and conferences at DECHEMA, said about EST 2015: “DECHEMA is convinced that science and technology will make the decisive contribution for the energy requirements of the future. This EST conference will shape the future.”
E2C is the second established conference, which will take place under the umbrella of the EST 2015 and is being supported by the partners E-MRS, EPS and EuCheMS. Dr. Abdelilah Slaoui, head of research at E-MRS said: “The European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) has the task to disseminate the most recent worldwide findings of materials science researchers and the opportunities for economic exploitation to benefit the European economy. Developing advanced materials for Energy is one of the priorities. Therefore, organizing the EST 2015 conference jointly with other societies will allow a strong visibility of the enormous activities of the European researchers, companies in this sector.” Dr. Majcen, general secretary of EuCheMS, emphasised: ”Since Chemistry will play a major role in many types of energy - solar energy conversion, nuclear, fracking, etc. EuCheMS is delighted to be involved in the 2015 Energy Conference.”
Jozef Ongena, head of the Energy Group at EPS added: „The conference is important to me because it is multidisciplinary. Most energy conferences are very specific, this one gives an overview of all energy options and techniques needed for future energy systems.”
The EST 2015 conference advisory board will launch a call for papers in July. Interested stakeholders may save the date and will find further information at www.est-conference.com soon.
