The DGM technical committee aims to support new findings in this field, make available current knowledge and encourage the transfer of knowledge. The main points of emphasis are: heat-materials, photocatalytic materials, electrical energy storage and materials of the electrical energy sector. In accordance with its interdiscilplinary remit, the committee unites materials scientists, engineers, physicists and chemists from universities and research centres as well as representatives from companies. Representatives from companies which, alongside the necessary raw materials, can also produce the required equipment and systems, also belong to the technical committee.
The technical committee organises workshops and symposiums at conferences like the "European Congress and Exhibition of Advances Materials and Processes" (Euromat). There is an intensive exchange with the BMBF, DFG as well as the EU. The technical committee attends all important conferences. At the moment, the committee is composing a thesis on "Demands on Materials for the Future of our Energy Supplies", which summarises the future development needs.
