Modelling and simulation methods became very reliable tools for materials sciences over the past two decades. The allow for detailed insight into materials’ properties and into the role of the underlying microstructure. Data-driven approaches and analysis methods gain more and more importance and expand the range of applicability of models and simulations. Furthermore, they allow a tight connection to experimental data which are crucial when it comes to validation and parameterization of models and simulations.
The Technical Committee "Materials Modelling, Simulation and Data" is a forum for all modelling and simulation approaches commonly used in the materials science. Additionally, the goal is to discuss and establish relevant techniques and interesting methods of the field of data science through working group various activities. There, the Technical Committee serves as the overarching structure within which a number of relevant working groups (“subcommittees”) are located.
