The focus of this committee is on composites and hybrids containing one or more metallic components. Both structural (especially in lightweight design) and functional (e.g., wear protection or thermal management) applications are covered. Topics are the fundamental understanding of these materials and their process-structure-property relationships, new materials and processes, and composite-specific characterization techniques. Committee meetings are held every six months at alternating locations in order to present and discuss recent developments. On demand the committee partitions temporarily into parallel sub-committees on structural and functional materials.
