This Committee is concerned with rolling and processing of rolled strip and sheet with respect to flatness and shape. It covers basically the generation of stresses and strains which are introduced to the strip during rolling and coiling and further strip processing of various kinds. Due to the ever increasing demands on tolerances, the semi- as well as the processing industry is faced with consequent production problems such as improper strip guidance on processing machines or spring-back effects during cutting. An interdisciplinary committee consisting of measurement providers, machine producers, strip producers and research institutions shall exchange experience of modern measurement techniques and control algorithms, shall systemize the knowledge in the field and increase the general understanding of the acting mechanisms.
• Covering industrial and scientific topics in the area of sensor technology, measurement and control technology and rolling technology with a view on controlling strip shape and flatness • Working on a science-based knowledge of simulation of stresses and strains in industrial processes • Initiating of research and development projects: Joint projects of universities, research institutes and industry • Exchange of experience between teams working in the field of strip shape and flatness measurement and control, design of rolling mills and (stretch) leveling machinery as well as strip producers and processing industry
