Architecture of the field of Materials Science and Engineering: Analysis, Positioning, Anchoring

The field of materials science and engineering has a significant influence on the competitiveness of German industry and consequently on the well-being of our society. As in the end, the quality of a material determines its success!

The project Architecture of the field of Materials Science and Engineering aims to ensure that the economic and social importance of Materials Science and Engineering is recognized publicly and by decision-makers.

Project Key Areas:

  1. Identification and characterisation of participants, that represent the field Materials Science and Engineering at the moment (IST-situation),
  2. Identification of current and future topics that are of strategic importance to the field of Materials Science and Engineering.
  3. Development of a strategy that can effectively be put in place between key players of the field of Materials Science and Engineering; for a strong positioning of this discipline in public and in relation to decision-makers (SOLL-situation)
  4. Development of measures for the entire field of Materials Science and Engineering for the implementation of positioning.

10. Establishment of a suitable work organisation within the DGM Head Office and  DGM Committees

  • Suitability and staffing of committees, working groups etc.
