The DGM Young Talent Forum regards itself as a networking platform for young materials scientists.
It was first held in Cologne in 2012 and is now a part of DGM Day.
Among other things, it offers: workshops, poster-shows, student sessions, keynote presentations, MatWerk slams and "meet-the-experts" meetings.
Networking, talking, learning: this can be done by students, doctoral candidates, PostDocs and young professionals at the annual DGM Young Talent Forum within the framework of the MSE-Congress and Werkstoffwoche (Materials Week).
It was especially created to bring together the materials scientists of the future with the "old hands" of science and industry.
The Materials-Slam at Materials Week, or rather the MatWerk - Slam at the MSE-Congress is the platform by which Materials science and engineering is presented to a wider public in an entertaining way. There are no limits to the creativity involved; all forms of presentation from lectures through debates to experimental shows are allowed. Get involved and choose the best slammer!
Post it! The DGM Student & Poster Sessions
With the DGM Student & Poster Sessions, one can present oneself to the experts in the field of materials science and engineering! With a short lecture or a poster, students and PhD students can score points for their work at Materials Week or the MSE Congress.
Good organisation, honest discussions, a broad range of topics and excellent speakers: the Young Talent Careers Workshop aims to help young students as well as doctoral candidates of materials science and engineering in planning their careers and connect them with established, well-known representatives from industry, science and research.
The Young Talent Careers Workshop is aimed at promising junior academics who will complete their studies in the near future. It should assist in answering the question as to whether a career in science or industry or as a self-employed entrepreneur (or a time as a PostDoc abroad) is advisable.
The Company Networking Forum offers young talents the possibility to exchange with firms from the DGM network regarding career opportunities and prerequisites. With its Company Networking Forum, the DGM is reacting to the strong demand by the industry for well qualified students and graduates of materials science courses of study and simultaneously fulfilling the wish of young talent to be put in contact earlier with potential employers.
At a Speed-Dating, "Networking - Perspectives - Career" is at the forefront. The participants intensively discuss with which measures the DGM can support careers and advancement. Experts from science and economics present the fascinating facets of this field to the young participants of the Speed-Dating and point out career paths and possibilities to specialise. In this way, the individual networking among the generations in our association is broadened, through personal conversations.
