On 02 April 2015, the Salon "Leonardo da Vinci" at Dresden Airport was the meeting place for representatives from politics, industry and research. Media representatives were provided with first-hand insights into the forthcoming Werkstoffwoche 2015.
With regard to the Werkstoffwoche, a press conference was held at the Conference Center of Dresden airport. Dirk Hilbert, the Mayor of Dresden, pointed out the importance of the Werkstoffwoche for the city of Dresden. In this respect he commented: "We expect that Dresden will be perceived by the international audience as a European competence center for automation, energy and materials". Dr.-Ing. Frank O.R. Fischer, Executive Director of the DGM, presented the Werkstoffwoche, which will take place from 14 – 17 September in Dresden. He stressed the enormous importance of high-quality materials and the associated value of German industry and recognizes Dresden´s future to be in an excellent position as an industrial location in terms of basic research and materials science. Prof. Dr. Hubert Jäger from the TU Dresden subscribed Dr.-Ing. Fischer´s point of view and also called for better promotion of start-up companies and a more efficient chain production in the metropolitan region of Saxony.
