FEMS-Conference JUNIOR EUROMAT 2014 | The preliminary programme is now online! 320 participants are expected!

JUNIOR EUROMAT - The Major Event for Young Materials Scientists takes place from 21 to 25 July 2014 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Please check the preliminary programme at: JUNIOR EUROMAT 2014 - The Major Event for Young Materials Scientists

In the programme you will get an overview of the abstracts that will be presented as well as of the participants who will join the conference. One of the highlights will be the plenary talk given by Prof. Michael F. Ashby. Prof. Ashby is emeritus professor in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge, a world-renowned authority on engineering materials and author of several best-selling textbooks and first recipient of the FEMS European Materials Medal award.

Further highlights of the JUNIOR EUROMAT conference will be:

A plenary talk given by Prof. Michel Rappaz. Prof. Rappaz is full professor and head of the Computational Materials Laboratory at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). He will inspire participants of the conference with an enthusiastic plenary talk about fundamentals of materials science, covering macroscopic and microscopic aspects of metallic materials. He is also a recipient of the FEMS European Materials Medal award.

A plenary talk given by Prof. Thomas Lippert. Prof. Lippert is head of the Materials group within the Department of General Energy Research at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), Switzerland, and is also a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences at ETH Zurich. Lippert's research is focused on materials relevant to energy research, but he is also interested in soft materials, such as light emitting polymers.

The conference is intended for young materials scientists. JUNIOR EUROMAT is an excellent opportunity for young researchers to gather experience at an international conference in a relaxed and familiar atmosphere. Young scientists present their thesis or first results of their PhD or master's degree in a short presentation accompanied by a poster. They will also meet top-class scientists who give plenary talks and share information about their field of activities. JUNIOR EUROMAT is a great event to socialize with other young researchers in the field of materials science and engineering. An event you will never forget!
