HTSMAS 2015: Preliminary Programme now online!

The first international conference on High Temperature Shape Memory Alloys – from Basics to Applications, scheduled from 05 - 08 May 2015 will be organized by the DGM in cooperation with the Institut für Werkstoffkunde (Materials Science) Leibniz Universität Hannover.

The conference takes place at the Educational Centre in Wildbad Kreuth, Bavaria, Germany, nestled in the idyllic landscape between Lake Tegernsee and the Achen Pass, near Munich. The former spa looks back on 500 years of history.

The transformation temperatures of conventional shape memory alloys are limited to below 100 °C, thus hindering their applications in elevated and high temperature regimes. Lately, high-temperature shape memory alloys have attracted a lot of interest as the demand for components operating at temperature above 100°C has grown significantly. There have been substantial advances lately, but challenging issues like poor workability and limited ductility and high amounts of noble metals still limit the widespread use of these unique materials.

During the conference, also a poster evening will take place. Exhibitors and visitors will have an opportunity to present and discuss the latest results in this rapidly evolving field during the conference breaks, joint conference excursion to the Tegernsee, the conference dinner and during the poster evening.

The topics of the conference will include:

- Constitution and Alloy Development
- Processing
- Characterization and Testing
- Functional and Structural Degradation
- Modeling
- Applications
