One of the DGM´s maxims is to support young material science and engineering talents in their career paths. For this purpose, the German Materials Society (DGM) has for the last four years set up the Nachwuchsforum as a networking and supporting instrument for students, PhDs and young industry professionals of materials science and engineering as well as its adjacent areas. In 2014 the Nachwuchsforum took place for the first time within the scope of the international “MSE – Materials Science and Engineering” congress and the DGM Tag. Material scientists took part in workshops, student sessions, the MatWerk-Slam, presentations, expert meetings and the young professionals career workshop offering expertise and perspectives. This and much more is our ambition for 2016.
Next to participating in workshops, keynote speeches and interacting with specialists, the Nachwuchsforum is the ideal environment to build up your personal network. During speed-datings, experts from academia and industry will show rotating groups of participants career paths and specializations of all facets of the materials science and engineering specialist area. Short personal talks will foster the intergenerational networking and exchange of experience.
The exchange of views will be enabled through a plenary discussion with the speakers of the DGM´s committees and young professionals. The objective of the discussion is to take into account the demands and expectations of young talents for the future development of the field of materials science and engineering.
From September 27th, 2016 the DGM-Nachwuchsforum will be part of the international congress “MSE – Materials Science and Engineering”. The DGM hereby promotes the early stage networking between students and doctoral candidates with the international scientific community.
