Whether novel metallic structures, hybrid materials, fiber-ceramic composites, polymers or high-temperature resistant materials - new materials and lightweight construction with completely new properties and functions secure the prosperity of society and ensure that Germany is expanded and secured as a business location. Materials science and materials engineering make new electric cars and innovative aircraft concepts possible, as well as further developments in mechanical engineering, new prostheses and medical devices and functional sportswear with electronics. This knowledge of materials is collected, communicated and disseminated in the DGM's specialist and joint committees - from A for "aluminum" to Z for "cellular materials".
